NEWS RELEASE
SDC accredits two companies under its independent Colour Accreditation Scheme
World first for Sp Apparels Ltd (India) and Ocean Lanka (Sri Lanka)
The first dyehouses anywhere in the world to be accredited under the
Society’s Colour Accreditation Scheme (SDC CAS) are Sp Apparels Ltd (India)
and Ocean Lanka (Sri Lanka) – both suppliers to Tesco.
The scheme, which aims to provide colour consistency for the global textile
supply chain, was adopted by Tesco soon after its launch in 2006. Both Sp
Apparels and Ocean Lanka were keen to confirm their supply credentials under
the scheme and it means they now operate SDC CAS-approved procedures for
visual and instrumental colour approval.
Comments the SDC’s technical officer, Andrew Filarowski, ‘Both companies
have complied with the strict and rigorous procedures demanded by the
scheme. At least two people fully understand the technicalities of colour
measurement and can apply their knowledge and expertise on a day-to-day
basis.’
He continues, ‘The scheme also ensures that the specialist equipment used is
suitable for the task in hand and is properly calibrated and maintained to
the highest standards. This ensures consistent assessment and uniform colour
communication throughout the world.’
International, independent and integrated, SDC CAS is attracting attention
from major retailers. It is the only independent scheme for the global
textile supply chain.
Note for Editor
The SDC is an independent, not-for-profit educational charity and the
world’s only chartered, professional body dedicated to colour. It is the
natural focus and authority on all matters relating to colour application,
control, standards and performance. It has more than 80 years of experience
in the development of colour-related standards and has been responsible for
introducing many of the standards used today for the colour fastness
performance of textiles and colour measurement. It has held the secretariats
of both BSI and ISO standard bodies.
