Coloration Technology Accelerated Publication Procedure

Once a paper is accepted for publication in the Coloration Technology, it joins a queue of other papers awaiting publication and papers are published in order of date of acceptance. For all submissions, in order to address the need for faster publication times, the editorial staff are working with referees to ensure processing times are kept to a minimum. However there is a procedure in place by which short papers are processed via an accelerated route. In order for papers to be considered via the accelerated publication procedure (APP), we ask authors to work with us to improve the presentational aspects of papers when preparing manuscripts for submission. Authors are asked to pay more attention to requirements for conciseness, standard of English, number and quality of illustrations, etc. The hope is that APP papers submitted to Coloration Technology will be of high quality and normally will require little, if any, revision before acceptance. (If the reviewers recommend substantial revisions, this may result in the submission being stripped of its APP status.)

The aim is to drastically reduce the need for detailed editing of papers, artwork preparation and time-consuming negotiations with authors on technical and presentational issues. The result is that the time-to-publication of such papers will also be reduced, with the possibility of papers being accepted within one month of receipt, and being published between 2 and 3 months after submission.

The detailed guidelines are set out below. Authors should provide a statement outlining why their paper should be considered for the accelerated publication procedure. Provided the editors can see that a conscientious effort has been made to conform to the guidelines, every effort will be made to ensure that papers are processed rapidly, even if it has not been possible for authors to scrupulously observe every single point. However, it must be stressed that the eligibility of any paper for the accelerated publication procedure is solely at the discretion of the journal's editors.
