FAQs

How do I subscribe to Coloration Technology?

You need to contact Blackwell Publishing.

What is Blackwell Synergy?

Blackwell Synergy is the online journals service from Blackwell Publishing, who now publish Coloration Technology on behalf of the SDC. It holds the content for most of the journals that Blackwell publishes, journals published on behalf of professional societies like the SDC. It provides the ability to search for relevant articles, read abstracts free of charge and for subscribers to read full articles in either PDF or HTML form.

What are the benefits of this service

...and many more!

How do I access the online articles?

There are links from the Coloration Technology homepage on this site to the table of contents for each available issue on the Blackwell Synergy site. The table of contents has links to the abstract of each article.

To access the full text, you need to be a subscriber to the journal and you will need to register with the Blackwell Synergy site (see below). A non-subscriber can use a credit card to buy access to an article after registering with Synergy.

Do I need to register on the Blackwell Synergy site?

Guest users can search the site with both simple and advanced search terms, read abstracts, view tables of contents and download references to a personal reference manager all without registering with the site.

You need to register with the site to be able to access full articles if you are a subscriber or to purchase access to full articles if you are not a subscriber. You only need to register with the site once and it is free to do so. Once you have signed up you can save favourites to your personal Synergy journals page, access articles marked as free samples, sign up for email alerts and more.

What do I do if I forget my password for the Blackwell Synergy website?

Information about what to do if you forget your password can be found in the Online Help section of the Synergy site.

Will I receive an email alert when a new issue goes live?

Once you have registered with the Blackwell Synergy site you can sign up for electronic table of contents - e-tocs - alerts by email. Once registered and logged in, from within 'My Synergy' select the Email Alerts tab and follow the on-screen instructions.

I am an SDC member/Patron Supporter – do I get a discount if I want to subscribe?

SDC members receive a substantial discount on the full subscription price (email us for details); SDC Patron Supporters are entitled to claim a 25% discount on the normal institutional price.

Are there plans to put further back issues online?

The issues back to 1999 (JSDC) are now available on Blackwell Synergy. There are no plans to make earlier back issues available through Synergy; pre-1999 SDC journal articles can be accessed through the Society's separate ColourClick site.
